The Background
Glenfiddich wished to manufacture a video presentation box suitable to carry a sample a bottle of their whisky valued at £25,000. Glenfiddich came to Video In a Box as they knew we were the best manufactures and suppliers of video boxes and video brochures in the UK. Glenfiddich is actually the name of a single malt whiskey produced by William Grant and Sons who are the third largest producer of Scotch whisky. The Glenfiddich distillery was founded in 1886 and now produces 35% of all single malt sales.
Glenfiddich and our team discussed, at great length, what the key to a piece of high end, luxury packaging piece is. We settled on the design idea of a soft touch box with a spot UV gloss finish on the lid, a beautiful 10 inch screen inside and a custom foam fitment with a dark grey silk covering. The team and Glenfiddich were immensely impressed with the video box produced and everyone deems it worthy of the £25,000 a bottle whiskey it houses.
Luxury Print Finish And Spot UV Gloss
The collaboration between the design team and Glenfiddich culminated in a decision to employ a matte, soft-touch lamination for the exterior of the luxury video box. This choice wasn’t merely aesthetic; it aimed to evoke a tactile sensation, enhancing the user experience. Complemented by touches of gloss spot UV, this design approach encapsulated a modern interpretation of the brand’s essence.
A deliberate juxtaposition of finishes lent the box a minimalist allure, drawing the viewer’s gaze toward the captivating 10-inch screen and the showcased sample of premium whisky. By seamlessly blending contrasting textures, the design achieved a harmonious balance, ensuring that the focal points remained undisturbed amidst the box’s sleek exterior.
At the heart of the video box’s appeal lay its focal point: a 10-inch HD IPS screen, carefully chosen to convey Glenfiddich’s impassioned tale of their 50-year-aged whisky. The decision to opt for this screen wasn’t arbitrary; it represented the epitome of extravagance, underscoring the brand’s commitment to exclusivity and opulence.
Perfect 10 Inch HD Screen
With a resolution of 1024 x 600 and an aspect ratio of 16:9, the screen boasted remarkable clarity and vibrancy, further enhancing the viewing experience. Incorporating IPS technology ensured that viewers could enjoy consistent color accuracy and clarity from wide viewing angles, up to 178 degrees, preserving the integrity of the visual presentation.
Contained within the video box were not only visual delights but also tangible manifestations of luxury. Safely nestled within custom foam fitment lay a £25,000 bottle of whisky, accompanied by two crystal glasses and a platinum whisky pipette. The dark grey silk cover of the foam fitment added an additional layer of sophistication, concealing the utilitarian foam beneath, while safeguarding the precious contents from any potential mishaps during transit or handling. The careful consideration of both aesthetic and functional elements highlighted the essential role of such packaging in safeguarding the integrity and allure of the enclosed treasures.
